Sun blinds

In 2000 HSV was contacted by a renowned Danish industrial designer, as he had a new idea for sun blinds. His idea was a curtain which would be a mix of pull-down and blinds.

Our task was to weave a fabric with 2 inches of belts in weft direction, alternating between entirely transparent and entirely closed. In the way, the customer could change the light in the room, depending on whether he, or she, wished a very bright room, or for the room to be dimly lit.

The development phase was started, and HSV experimented with different yarns, weaving structures and finishing over a fourteen month period.

The sun blinds was made of flame retardant yarns and produced in different colours.

The final product was presented in 2003, and it was a great success. HSV produced the fabric for several years, until the sun blinds became so popular, that the customer moved the production to China.
